Counterpoint’s Market Outlook provides short- and long-range forecasts of the total addressable market size by volume and value for smartphones and feature phones. In this report, we forecast vendor-level shipment shares from 2019 – 2020 for 5G smartphones by key OEMs and regions. The basis for the forecast is the actual performance achieved by the various handset vendors until Q3 2019.

Mobile handset shipments for 2019 are estimated to decline by 7%. 5G smartphones accounted for just 1% of the total smartphone shipments in 2019. The adoption will be faster in 2020 with China giving a push to 5G and the price of new 5G phones coming down due to competition.
