Opposition wants road pricing
The red-green opposition in Sweden last week submitted a proposal to introduce road pricing per kilometer for heavy goods vehicles. If the opposition takes power in this autumn's elections, they want to introduce the tax around 2013, following European experience. The tax is proposed to vary depending on where the vehicle is travelling, i.e geographical differentiation. The proposal met with criticism including current government, industry associations and haulage companies. (Source: Radio Sweden and SVT) Published on Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
