ARENA Field Trial
A telematics system with many suppliers, services and user requirements contains a large number of components that must work in unison in a very demanding environment. On of ARENAs goal is to establish a Test Site in southern Sweden, where equipment for road user charging and other advanced ITS services can be developed, tested, verified and certified and in the future certified for use throughout Europe.
Starting in November 2009 and three months ahead a few companies demonstrate their solution in order to pay various types of user charges (eg kilometre tax and road tolls) in Test Site Southern Sweden. The ARENA Field Trials are taking place while several EU countries plan to introduce distance-based road user charges, for example France and Holland. The ARENA concept, which is demonstrated, is in line with European development.
